Pompeii vineyards provide new wines * * *
Pompeii is being brought back to life by new wines produced in the vineyards dating back to Roman times.
The wines are only made from grapes grown inside the ancient city which was destroyed when Mount Vesuvius erupted in 79AD. More.

Ancient Greeks, not Romans gave France the gift of wine
A new study by Cambridge University suggests that that the French may owe their passion for wine to Ancient Greeks, who introduced the drink in the country.The research, by Prof Paul Cartledge, says that the original makers of Côtes-du-Rhône may have been the successors of the Greek explorers who settled in south of France nearly 2500 years ago (600 BC).
